Etymology: Latin, repen, "reptile" and Latin, mam, "mammal"; referring to the animals both reptilian and mammalian features.

Etymology: Latin, robustus, "strong": in reference to it’s large size.

Locality: Lujiatun Village, Biepiao, Liaoning Province, China.

Horizon: Horizon 1, Lower part of the Yixian Formation, Jehol Group.

Biostratigraphy: Psittacosaurus Fauna, Confuciusornis Avifauna.

Age: Valanginian Stage, Upper Neocomian Subepoch, Early Early Cretaceous Epoch, Early Cretaceous.

Material: Nealry complete skull and mandibles, and some post-cranial bones.

Etymology: Greek, gigantikos, "large, giantic"; referring to the large size of the new species among Mesozoic Mammals.
