Etymology: In honor the German geologist and palaeontologist of Hans von Staff (1883-1915) who ran excavations of the German Tendaguru expedition in 1911

Etymology: Latin, aenigma, “enigma”.

Holotype: MB.Ma. 48080

Locality: Site Jg (Wj), Tendaguru, Tanzania, East Africa.

Horizon: Middle Saurian bed, Tendaguru Formation.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Kimmeridgian-Tithonian Stage, Middle-Upper Malm Epoch, Late Jurassic.

Material: Cheek tooth, tentatively identified as a right lower posterior premolar.
