Genus: Yaverlestes SWEETMAN, 2008
Etymology: In reference to Yaverland, Isle of Wight County,
Southern England, the name of the settlement closest to the outcrop
from which the holotype specimen was obtained, and Greek, lestes, "hunter,
robber or plunderer," a commonly used suffix for the generic names of apparently
predatory Mesozoic mammals.

Etymology: In honor of Dr. Brian Gasson who found the holotype and one of
the paratype[specimens, and who generously donated them adn other important
Wessex Formation microvertebrate material in his private collection to the
collection of the Natural History Museum, London.

Locality: Yaverland, southeast coast, Isle of Wight, Isle of Wight County, Southern England, Southern United Kingdom.
Horizon: Bed 38, occuring c. 4 m below the top of the Wessex Formation, Wealden Group.

Age: Valanginian-Hauterivian Stage, Neocomian Subepoch- Barremian Stage, Lower Gallic Subepoch, Early Cretaceous Epoch, Early Cretaceous.
Material: An incomplete right dentary with alveoli of p1 and dp2, substantially incomplete dp3, partial m1, substantialy complete m2, complete m3, adn alveoli for m4-5.
