Etymology:,
Greek, Acheron, from ancient Greek mythology, the river Acheron ('the river of
woe') a branch of the underworld river Styx over wich Charon ferried the dead
across into hades, and Greek, suchus, "crocodile."

Etymology: In refrence to the Guajira Peninsula in northeastern Colombia,
the location of the Cerrejon Coal mine from which all specimens were recovered.

Locality: Cerrejon Coal Mine, 11°08.944'N, 72°32.89'W, La Guajira Department, northeastern Colombia.
Horizon: Cerrejon Formaiton, underclay of Coal Seam 90.
Biostratigraphy:
Age: Middle to late Paleocene Epoch, Lower Paleogene Period, Lower Tertiary Subera, Cenozoic Era.
Material: A mostly complete mandible including left and right dentaries, splenials, 14 partial mandibular teeth, right surangular, and 4 maxillary fragments, 4 partial teeth and 2 partial ribs.

Age: Middle to late Paleocene Epoch, Lower Paleogene Period, Lower Tertiary Subera, Cenozoic Era.
Material:
UF/IGM 35: Mandibile including left and right dentaries and splenials, the left surangular, angular and articular and a total of 3 partial teeth, 2 ribs, 1 sacral vertebra with partial sacral ribs, and one metatarsal.
Locality: Underclay of Coal Seam 40 within the West Extension Pit, Cerrejon Coal Mine, La Guajira Department, northeastern Colombia.
Horizon: Cerrejon Formaiton, underclay of Coal Seam 90.
