Etymology: Greek, aplestos, "insatiate, gluttonous" and Greek, souchus, after a cretaure of Egyptian zoomorphism.

Etymology: Latin, sordidus, "filthy"; in reference to the manifest greedy behavior of the animal.

Holotype: IPRP/USP 0229a

Locality: Buruti creek area, General Salgado municipality, Sao Paulo State, Brazil.

Horizon: Adamantina Formation, Bauru Group.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Turonian Stage, Uppermost Gallic Subepoch-Santonian Stage, Lower Senonian Subepoch, Lower Gulf Epoch, Late Cretaceous.

Material: Skull and nearly complete skeleton.

Aplestosuchus sordidus (modified from Gody et al. 2014).

Referred material:

Sphagosaurid found in its stomach region.

IPRP/USP 0229b: 3 isoalted teeth, frontal, parietla, palpebral, and jugle bones.
