Genus: Burkesuchus NOVAS, AGNOLIN, LIO, ROZADILLA, SUAREZ, de la CRUZ, de SOUZA CARVALHO, RUBILAR-ROGERS & ISASI, 2021
Etymology: In honor of Mr. Coleman Burke (New York, USA), who generously supported the field exploration in which teh fossils were discovered and and Latin, suchus, "crocodile."

Species: mallingrandensis NOVAS, AGNOLIN, LIO, ROZADILLA, SUAREZ, de la CRUZ, de SOUZA CARVALHO, RUBILAR-ROGERS & ISASI, 2021
Etymology: In reference to Mallin Grande, a beautiful region in southern Chile adjacent to the fossil locality.

Holotype: SGO.PV 17700

Locality: Cropping out in the mountains flanked by the Maitenes and Horquetas rivers, south fo General Carrera Lake, Southern Chile.

Horizon: Toqui Formation.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Tithonian Stage, Malm Epoch, Late Jurassic.

Material: Partial neuocranium, a cervial neural arch, 4 dorsal vertebrae, right scapula, and coracoid, right humerus and ulna, left ischium, distal end of right femur and 1 cervical and 2 dorsal osteoderms.

Paratype:

SGO.PV 17701: nearly complete right femur, 2 dorsal vertebrae and 1 dorsal osteoderm.
