Etymology: Latin, dentaneo, "frightful or showing teeth" and Greek, souchos, the name of the crocodile-headed god in Egyptian Mythology (Sobek); refering to its hypothesized apex predatro position in Eocene Terrestrial ecosystems of Europe.
