Genus: Gilchristosuchus WU & BRINKMAN, 1992
Etymology: Referring to the Gilchrist, owners of the ranch on which the specimen was found and Greek, suchos, "crocodile."

Species: palatinus WU & BRINKMAN, 1992
Etymology: In reference to the palatines that extend posteriorly far beyond the suborbital fenestrae.

Holotype: RTMP 91.101.1

Locality: Gilchrist Ranch, SW 1/4, Tp 1, Rg11, W4, Warner County, southern Alberta Province, Canada.

Horizon: Upper Milk River Formation.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Aquilian age, Late Santonian Stage, Senonian subepoch, Upper Gulf epoch, Late Cretaceous.

Material: A partial skull including postorbital region and braincase, and an incomplete cervical vertebra.
