Etymology: In reference to the municipality of Marilia, Sao Paulo, Brazil, where the specimen was found and Greek, souchos, "crocodile"; Marilia crocodile.

Locality: 10 km from the head office of Sao Paulo, Municipal of Marila, Sao Paulo State, Bauru Basin, Brazil.

Horizon: Adamantina/Aracatuba Formation, Bauru Group.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Turonian Stage-Campanian Stage, Senonian Subepoch, Gulf Epoch, Late Cretaceous.

Material: Skull, dentary and nearly complete skeleton of a juvenile.

Etymology: In reference to the stoutness of the skull when compared with other notosuchids.

Holotype: UFRJ-DG 56-R

Locality: Road to Fazenda Doreto, 10 km from town hall, 22°20'21"S, 49°56'39"W, Marilia Municipal, Sao Paulo State, Bauru Basin, Brazil.

Horizon: Adamantina Formation, Bauru Group.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Turonian Stage, Uppermost Gallic Subepoch-Santonian Stage, Lower Senonian Subepoch, Lower Gulf Epoch, Late Cretaceous.

Material: Nearly complete skull and dentary, and other non-articulated elements (skull fragments, post cranial remains and an isolated caniniform tooth).
