Etymology: 'Ophiussa' referes to the ancient name given by the Greeks to the area where is now Portugal, and Greek, souchos, refers to the crocodile-headed Egyptian god Sobek.

Etymology: Referes to the one who swims in Paimogo, where the specimen was found, Paimogo Beach, Lourinha, Portugal.

Locality: Praia de Paimogo, 39°17'10.4"N, 9°20'17.4"W, Lourinha, Lisbon, weast coast of Portugal.

Horizon: Praia Azul Member, Lourinha Formation. Formation.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Upper Kimmeridigian-Lower Tithonian Stage, Malm Epoch, Late Jurassic.

Material: Nearly complete skull.
