Etymology: In reference to the Moreno Formation of the Panoche Hills, Fresno County, California and Greek, sauros, “lizard”: Moreno lizard.

Etymology:

Holotype: CIT 2802

Locality: CIT 354, 2,400 feet W and 110 feet S of NE cor. Sec. 11, T 14S, R 11E, MDB and M, in the Panoche hills Fresno County, 1 1/2 miles NNW of UC locality V3735, California.

Horizon: Moreno Formation.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Maastrichtian Stage, Uppermost Senonian Subepoch, Uppermost Gulf Epoch, Late Cretaceous.

Material: A fairly complete skeleton lacking the skull, anterior part of the neck and parts of the paddle.
