Lectotype: Bulawayo Museum in Zimbabwe.

Locality: Tanga region of Tanzania, East Africa.

Horizon: Middle of Black Shales Series.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Late Permian.

Material: Fragmentary skull and skeleton missing the tip of tail.

Cotype: SAM-6231: Skeleton lacking cervical vertebrae and tip of tail.

SAM-6232: Skeleton lacking first few cervicals and tip of tail.
Note: Gastroliths were found.
