Etymology: In reference to Daohugou Village, where the specimen was collected,
and Greek, pteros, 'wing'.
Species: delicates CHENG, WANG, JIAN, & KELLNER, 014
Etymology: Latin, delicatus, 'small'; in allusion to the comparatively small
and delicate body type of this species.
Holotype: IVPP V12537
Locality: Daohugou, Ningcheng County, Inner Mongolia, China.
Horizon: Daohugou Bed (Formation) or Tiaojishan Formation.
Biostratigraphy:
Age: Late Jurassic.
Material: Fragmentary skull and fragmentary skeleton.
Note: Soft tissue/fibres and fragments of wing membrane.
