Etymology: The specific name referes to the surprising characters of the animal.

Referred material:

 

Locality: Zhangjiagou, Beipiao, western Liaoning Province, China.

Horizon: Lower part of the Yixian Formation.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Early Cretaceous.

Material:

IVPP V11579: Nearly complete specimen.
Note: Has 'proto feathers' along it's tail.
Note: This may be a different new genus.
