Genus: Dingavis O’CONNOR, WANG, & HU, 2016
Etymology: The genus name is in honor of the late distinguished Chinese geologist Wenjiang Ding, ofterconsidered the 'father of Chinese geology', who brought Amadeus William Grabau to Beijing university in 1920. Professor Ding was first person to teach palaeontology in China and he also served as the cheif editor of Palaeontologica Sinica, one of the earliest Chinese journals to recieve international recogniation.

Etymology: In reference to the elongate maxilla that distinguishes this taxon from all other Jehol ornithuromorphs.

Holotype: IVPP V20284

ocality: Sihedang locality, Lingyuan City, wetern Liaoning Province, China.

Horizon: Yixian Formation, Upper Jehol Group.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Early Cretaceous.

Material: A nearly complete adult individual with gastroliths, and trace impressions of integument around the neck.
