Etymology: The genus name reers to the older age of the new specimen relative
to known specimens of Pengornis.

Etymology: In honor of the late Larry Martin for his numerous contributions
to the field of palaeornithology.
Holotype: STM24-1
Locality: Near Luozigou Village, Fengning County, Hebei Province, China.
Horizon: The first sedimentary member of the Huajiyang Formation (previously called Dabeigou Formation or Dadianzi Formation.
Biostratigraphy: 'Protopteryx horizon'.
Age. Early Cretaceous.
Material: An almost complete and fully articulated subadult individual.
