Etymology: Protochirotherium Proto...in teh sense of "Ur".. = Urchirotherium
due to the domiant pes digit V.
Species: wolfhagense FICHTER & KUNZ, 2004
Etymology: In reference to Wolfhagen, where the tracks were found.
Holotype: RGMW 10.14.9.1
Locality: Former sandpit in the Stadtwald (Municipal forest) of Wolfhagen near the Stocke Teich (pond), Baden-Wurttenberg State, Germany.
Horizon: Dethfurt Wechselfolge.
Age: Middle Bunter, Early Triassic.
Material: Set of right manus and pes imprents.

Age: Middle Buntsandstein, Scythian Epoch, Early Triassic.
Referred material:
MTP.P.W3: Trackways no. 5-6, 8-10: Partial trackways and isoalted sets with skin texture.
MPT.P.W4: 2 trachways with 4, 5 successive sets respectively, partial trackways and isolated sets with skin texture.
