Species: carolinensis ERICKSON & SAWYER, 1996
Etymology: In reference to South Carolina where the specimens were found.

Holotype: ChM PV 4279

Locality: 32°51.9’N, 80°02.0’W (USGS. Johns Island, 7.5 quad), Charleston County, South Carolina.

Horizon: Chandler Bridge Formation, Chattian.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Upper Oligocene Epoch, Upper Paleogene Period, Upper Tertiary Subera, Middle Cenozoic.

Material: Skull and skeleton.

Note Paleopathology: Patholoigc left coracoid.

Locality: Crowfield Plantation, Berkeley County, South Carolina.

Note Paleopathology: Right epipodials shows signs that it was bitten by another G. carolinensis and rehealed.
