Etymology: Latin, arean, "sand" in reference to the sandstone matrix in which the fossil is preserved, and Latin, erpeton, "thing taht creeps,' commonly used for fossil amphbians and reptiles.

Species: supinatus HART, GEE, SMITH & McCURRY, 2023
Etymology: Latin, supinatus, "on its back' in reference to theholotype specimen being preserved in ventral aspect.

Holotype: NAM F125866

Locality:Kincumber Quarry, approximatley 90 km north of Sydney, central coast of New South Wales State, Australia.

Horizon: Terrigal Formationj.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Spathian Stage, Late Scythian Epoch, Latest Early Late Triassic-Anisian Stage, Early Middle Triassic Epoch, Middle Triassic.

Material: An articulated skeleton containing cranial and postcranial elements.
Note: Soft tissue is preserved around the body.
