Genus: Campylognathoides STRAND, 1928
Etymology: Greek, kampylos “bent, crooked”, and Greek, gnathos, “jaw”, + Greek, oides (m), "like": Campylognathus-like one.

Species: zitteli (PLIENINGER, 1895) STRAND, 1928
Etymology: In honor of Alfred von Zittel.
= Campylognathus zitteli PLIENINGER, 1895

Holotype: SMNS 9787

Locality: In a working quarry near Dr. B. Hauff's Quarry XXFIII, Holzmaden, Wittgerg near Metzingen, Baden-Wurttemberg State, Germany.

Horizon: Lias ('Schwarzura') & II/3 (Fleins).

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Lower Toarcian Stage, Upper Lias Epoch, Upper Early Jurassic.

Material: Skull and skeleton.

Note: With stomach contents of Belemnoid hooklets (Clarkeiteuthis conocauda) (COOPER, SMITH & MARTILL, 2024).
