Etymology: In honor of John C. Merriam, for his outstanding contributions to the undrstanding and knowledge of Ichthyosaurs.

Species: hulkei (MAISCH & MATZKE, 2000) MAISCH & MATZKE, 2002
Etymology: In honor of John Whittaker Hulke, renowned British palaeoherpetologist of the 19th century, who was the fist to describe Triassic ichthyosaurs from Spitsbergen.
