Etymology: In honor of Ralph Werneburg, to honor his contributions to the study of consumulites, notably from the Kinney Brick Quarry, and Greek, ichnos, "trace".

Etymology: In reference to the Kinney Brick Quarry, wih yielded the holotype.

Locality: NMMNH locality 345, Kinney Brick Company Quarry, SE 1/4, sec. 18, T9N, R6E, Bernalillo County, New Mexico.

Horizon: Upper part of the Pine Shadow Member, Wild Cow Formation, unit 3.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Early Virgilian, Gzelian Epoch, Late Pennsylvanian (Late Late Carboniferous).

Material: Consumulites in the stomach area of the type specimen.
