Etymology: Greek, gnathos, "jaw," and Latin, voro, "devour" + Latin, -ax, "inclined to."

Species: cabreirai PACHEO, MÜLLER, LANGER, PRETTO, KERBERT & da SILVA, 2019
Etymology: In honor of Dr. Sergio Furtado Cabreira, the palaeontologist that found the specimen.

Holotype: CAPPA/UFSM 0009

Locality: Marchezan site, 29°37'30.52"S, 53°27'08.02"W, Sao Joao do Polesine, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil.

Horizon: Santa Maria Formation, Candelaria sequence, Parana Basin.

Biostratigraphy: Hyperodapedon Assemblage Zone.

Age: Mid Carnian Stage, Late Triassic Epoch, Late Triassic.

Material: An almost complete and partially articulaed skeleton lacking only part of the left shoulder girdle and part of the left forelimb.

Note: Has bite marks on its maxilla (BARCIA, MARTINEZ & MULLER, 2025).
