Etymology: The generic name is derived from the name of the municipality from where the specimen was recovered (Sao Joao do Polesine, Rio Grande do Sul State), and Greek, suchos, "crocodile."

UFSM 11070a (a single specimen that was collected and housed by three different insitiutions: MCP, UFRGS, UFSM): 7 dorsal and caudal vertebrae, dorsal ribs, and several paramedian osteoderms associated with rhynchosaur remains.

UFRGS: 2 fragmentary dorsal vertebrae, complete right articulated metacarpus, 3 non-ungual phalanges, right femur, probable distal end of tibia, dorsal ribs, several paramedian and appendicular osteoderms.

MCP-3450-PV: Fragmentary basicarnium, distal half of metatarsal IIIor IV, 1 anterior and 1 posterior cervical centa, several dorsal and caudal vertebrae, including a series of 4 articulated dorsals with associated paramedian osteoderms and dorsal ribs, complete right and fragmentary left calcaneum, several fragments of dorsal ribs, a cheveron and several parameidan osteoderms.

CRILAR-Pv 580: Sevral fragmentary teeth, 2 fragmentary vertebral centra, numerous fragments and natural casts of paramedian, ventral, and appendicular osteoderms, fragmentary ribs, right fragmentary coracoid, proximal end of right humerus, proximal end of both ulnae, distal end of left tibia, and distal end of metatarsal.

Etymology: In honor of the physician Pedro Lucas Porcela Aurelio, a paleontology enthusiast from Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil.

Holotype: ULBRA PVT003

Locality: Buriol outcrop, municipality of Sao Joao do Polesine, 29°39'34.2"S, 53°25'47.4"W, central region of the State of Rio Grande do Sul, southern Brazil.

Horizon: Santa Maria Supersequence, Santa Maria Formation.

Biostratigraphy: Hyperodapedon Assemblage Zone.

Age: Carnian Stage, Late Triassic Epoch, Late Triassic.

Material: A partial parietal, a well preserved basioccipital, cervical, dorsal, sacral and caudal vertebrae, anincomplete pectoral girdle (partial scapulae, coracoids, and interclavicle, two partial humeri and both ulnae, a right pelvic girdle (ilium, ischium, and pubis), parts of both hindlimes (femora, tibiae, both astragali, and left calcaneum), and pess (metatarsal III and V, unidentifiable phalanges, and two ungual phalantes, 10 isolated osteoderms form dorsal, ventral and appendicular region of the armor.
