Genus: Batrachotomus GOWER, 1999
Etymology: Greek, batrachos, “frog” and Greek, tome, “cutting, slicing”: The name refers to reconstructions of the Kupferzell locality (WILD, 1978, 1979, 1980, 1981) in which rauisuchians are shown preying on the capitosaurid Mastodonsaurus (formerly classified in the Batrachia) – ‘slicing’ refers to the tall and narrow form of the skull, and laterally-compressed, serrated teeth.

Age: Longobardian, Upper Ladinian Stage, Upper Mid Triassic Epoch, Middle Triassic.

Material: Substantial but incomplete and disarticulated cranial and postcranial remains. Right and left premaxillae, left maxillae, nasals, frontals (+parital and postfrontals), parietals, squamosals, postorbitals, jugals, quadrates, dentaries, surangulars, articulars, right lachrymal, right prefrontal, left quadratojugal, left ectopterygoid, left prearticular, 5 isolated teeth, 3 dorsal, a single sacral and 2 caudal vertebrae, several dorsal osteoderms, right ilium, proximal fragment of a right femur, left femur, left tibia and left fibula.
