Etymology: In honor of Jose F. Bonaparte.
Holotype: UNLR (old PULR) 07 (old La Plata Museum 1964-XI-14-12)
Locality: Los Chanares type locality, near the mouth of Chanares River, Talampaya National Park, about half a mile southeast of a volcanic plug in the valley of the south fork of the Chanares River, La Rioja Province, Argentina.
Horizon: Lower member of the Chanares Formation.
Biostratigraphy:
Age: Ladinian Stage, Upper Mid Triassic Epoch, Late Triassic.
Material: Skull, cervical and dorsal vertebrae, pelvic girdle, cervical and dorsal ribs, left femur, tibia and fibula.
Referred material:
MCZ 4035: An articulated vertebral column up to caudal 3, and considerable girdle and limb material.
MCZ 4036: Skulls and considerable postcranial material.
MCZ 4037: Skull and dentary, and presacral column.
MCZ 4038: A slab containing a mélange of material; most however, appear to belong to a nearly completely disarticulated skeleton.
