Etymology: From the words daga, which is a large knife or dagger in the regional gaucho jargon, in reference to the pronounced iliac blade and Greek, suchus, "crocodile."

Etymology: In reference to the city of Santa Cruz do Sul, Rio Grande do Sul State, Brazil, where the Schoenstatt ouptcrop is located.

Holotype: UFRGS-PV-1244-T, UFRGS-PV-1245-T

Locality: Schoenstatt outcrop, nar Santa Cruz do Sul, Rio Grande do Sul State, Brazil.

Horizon: Santa Maria Supersequence, Santacruzodon Assemblage Zone.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Ladinian Stage, Late Mid Triassic Epoch, Late Middle Triassic-Carnian Stage, Lower Late Triassic Epoch, Lower Late Triassic.

Material: UFRGS-PV-1244-T; Left Illium, UFRGS-PV-1245-T: Right and left ischium.
