Genus: Kocurypelta CZEPINSKI, DRODZDZ, SZCZ7GIELSKI, TALANDA, PAWLAK, LEWCZUK, RYTEL & SULEJ, 2021
Etymology: In reference to the Kocury village, where the excavations took place, and Greek, pelta, "sheild." The whole name means 'the forsest shield form Kocury.'

Locality: Kocury (Kotzuren, Koczury, Koczurry, Koturen) near Dobrodzien (Kotzuren forest), near Guttenberg, Gorny Slask, Upper Silesia, southern Poland.

Horizon: Patoka Member, Grabowa Formation ('Lisow Breccia' [Lissauer Breccie], Middle Keuper).

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Late Triassic.

Material: Left maxilla lacking the anteriormost portion.
