Genus: Pseudochampsa TROTTEYN & EZCURRA, 2014
Etymology: Greek, pseudo, "false" and Greek, champsa, "crocodile; in allustion to the crocodile-like body morphology of this animal.

Etymology: The epithet referes to the Ischigualasto Formation, the stratigrahic unit producing the new specimen.

Locality: Valle Pintado, Hoyada de Ischigualasto, Ischigualasto Provincial Park, San Juan Province, Argentina.

Horizon: Cancha de Bochas Member, Ischigualasto Formation.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Late Carnian Stage-Early Norian, Lower Late Triassic Epoch, Late Triassic.

Material: An articulated incomplete skeleton including skull with lower jaws, vertebral series lackign the distal most caudals, pectoral girdle, both parital humeri, parital pelvic girdle, both femora, tibiae, fibulae, pes, and soem gastralia.
