Etymology: In reference to La Rioja Province, where the holotype was found, northwestrn Argentina.

Locality: Campo Dordoba Norte, 29°49'01.8"S, 67°45'06.6"W, Talampaya National Park, La Rioja Porvince, northwestern Argentina.

Horizon: Lower Member, Chanares Formation.

Biostratigraphy: Tarjadia AZ

Age: Ladinian Stage, Latest Mid Triassic Epoch, Latest Middle Triassic-lowermost Carnian Stage, Late Triassic Epoch, Late Triassic.

Material: Right premaxilla, left maxilla, left nasal, dorsal portion of left postorbital, left jugal, left quadrate, right pterygoid, left prearticular, right angular, posterior portion of the right articular, various teeth, a probable dorsal vertebral centrum, a neural spine, various appendicular fragments, and incomplete ilium with different degrees fo weathering, and additonal poorly preserved indeterminate bony fragments.
