Etymology: Greek, steno, “narrow”and Greek, "hind leg." Referring to the slender leg of the creature.

Species: aurantiacus MÜLLER, GARCIA & de OLIVEIRA FONSECA, 2022
Etymology:Latin, aurantiacus, "orange". In allusion to the orange colour fo teh outcroping sediments of teh Varzea do Agudo site.

Holotype: CAPPA/UFSM 0293

Locality: Varzea do Agudo site (= Janner site), 29°39'10.89"S, 53°17'34.20"W, Agudo, Rio Grande do Sul State, Brazil.

Horizon: Santa Maria Formation, Lower Candelaria Sequence, equivelant to the Ischigualsto Formation.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Late Carnian-earliest Norian Stage, Late Triassic Epoch, Late Triassic.

Material: A complete and articulated hind leg.
