Etymology: In reference to the Tecovas Formation, from which all currently know material is derived, and Greek, suchos, "crocodile."

Species: chatterjeei MARTZ & SMALL, 2006
Etymology: In honor of Dr. Sankar Chatterjee for his guidance as our mentor and his contributions to Triassic vertebrate paleontology.

Holotype: TTUP 00545

Locality: Excat locality unknown, in the vicinity of Rotten Hill, along breaks of Sierrita de la Cruz Creek, northeast of Amarillo, between the towns of Boden and Tascosa, Oldham County, Texas.

Horizon: Tecovas Formation, Chinle Group (Dockum Group).

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Adamanian, Latest Carnian Stage, Late Triassic Epoch, Late Triassic.

Material: 5 almost complete paramedian osteoderms with fragments of at least 3 otehrs, one nearly complete lateral osteoderm and fragments of at least one other, partial braincase, and partial vertebra. A badly weathered vertebra and a rib are dubiously assoicated with tehrest of the material.

Locality: Placerias quarry (UCMP A269, MNA 207C), Big Hollow Wash near Romero Springs, a small valley 6 1/2 miles (approximately 10.4 km) S 65"W of St. Johns, Apache County, Arizona.
Note: Located 0.3 miles northwest of Romero Springs at approximately Long. 109'28'W and lat. 34"27'N on the USGS St. Johns quadrangle of 1921.

Horizon: Bluewater Creek Formation, Lower Chinle Group.
