Genus: Wannia STOCKER, 2013
Etymology: In honor of Dr. Wann Langston, Jr., Proferssor Emeritus at the University of Texas at Austin for his extensive work on archosaur palaeontology. This species was the first that Dr. Langston described and named in a peer-reviewed scientific publication (Langston, 1949).

Etymology: In reference to the Scurry County, Texas, where the specimen was found.

Holotype: TTU No. 539

Locality: 2 1/2 miles (4 km) NE of Camp Springs, Scurry County, Texas.

Horizon: “Pre-Tecovas Horizon”, Dockum Group.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Middle Carnian Stage, Lower Late Triassic Epoch, Late Triassic.

Material: Skull, with anterior portion and posterior portion missing, also missing, along with the top of the skull beyond the naries.
