Genus: Yarasuchus SEN, 2005
Etymology: From 'Yara", which means red in the local dialect because the material
was discovered in the red mudstone of the Yerrapalli Formation, and Greek,
suchos, "crocodile": Red crocodile.
Species: deccanensis SEN, 2005
Etymology: In reference to the Deccan region of India where the fossil remains
were found.
Holotype: ISI R 334/9-14, 36, 37, 56, 63
Locality: Bhimaram Village, 18°51'20"N, 79°41'E, about 4 km north northwest of the Yerrapalli village, Adilabad District, Andhra Pradesh State, India.
Horizon: Yerrapalli Formation, Gondwana Supergroup.
