Etymology: Tupi (one of the main Brazilian indigenous cultures), aymbere, "small lizard" and Greek, daktylus, 'finger'; commonly used suffex for pterodactyloids.

Species: cearensis PEGAS, LEAL, & KELLNER, 2016
Etymology: In reference to Ceara, Brazilian state of provinance of the fossil.

Holotype: MN 7596-V

Locality: Near the quarries of Nova Olinda city, Ceara State, northeastern Brazil.

Horizon: Crato Formation.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Aptian-Albian Stage, Middle Gallic Subepoch, Late Early Cretaceous Epoch, Latest Early Cretaceous.

Material: Nearly complete mandible.
