Etymology: In reference to the country of origin, Brazil and Greek, dactylus, “finger”: Brazil finger.

Species: araripensis KELLNER, 1984
Etymology: In reference to the area in which the specimen was found, Araripe.

Holotype: MN 4804-V (CD-R-002)

Locality: Chapade do Araripe, Ceara State, Northeastern Brazil.

Horizon: Romualdo Member, Santana Formation, Araripe Group.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Late Aptian or Early Albian Stage, Middle Gallic Subepoch, Upper Early Cretaceous Epoch, Early Cretaceous.

Material: Rostral part of the mandibular symphysis.

Referred material:

= Brasileodactylus cf. araripensis SAYAO & KELLNER, 2000

Locality: Unknown, probably in the proximities of the city of Nova Olindia, Ceara State, Northeastern Brazil.

Horizon: Nova Olinda Member, Crato Formation, Araripe Group.

Age: Late Aptian or Early Albian Stage, Middle Gallic Subepoch, Upper Early Cretaceous Epoch, Early Cretaceous.

Material:

BSP 1991 I 27: Anterior part of the maxilla (lacking the anteriormost part), the proximal parts of both humeri (from the deltopectoral crests onwards), both complete scapulae, both complete coracoids, the distal part of the first wing phalanx, the proximal part of the second phalanx of the wing finger, the sixth to ninth almost complete cervical vertebrae, the first to tenth complete dorsal vertebrae (numbers nine and ten are broken and incomplete respectively), four pieces of rib, the left pubis, the dorsal piece of right ischium (including anteroventral part of acetabulum) and the anterodorsla piece of the left ischium and seven small fragments of vertebrae.
