Genus: Cacibupteryx GASPARINI, FERNANDEZ & FUENTE, 2004
Etymology: Cacibu, prefix, from the Taino language spoken by the aboriginals of Cuba (Tejera, 1977) meaning lord of the sky, and Greek, pteryx, "wing."

Species: caribensis GASPARINI, FERNANDEZ & FUENTE, 2004
Etymology: Latin, carabensis, alluding to Caribbe.

Holotype: IGO-V 208 (museo Mario Sanchez Roig, Instituto de Geologie y Paleontologia, La Habana, Cuba.

Locality: Mogote Jagua Vieja, north-east of Vinales, Vinales Valley, Pinar del Rio Province, Cuba.

Horizon: Jagua Vieja Member, Jagua Formation.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Middle-Upper Oxfordian Stage, Lower Malm Epoch, Late Jurassic.

Material: Incomplete but three dimensional, uncrushed skull, with out mandibles, distal end of left ulna, fragments of the left radius, left phalanx 1 of wing finger, and phalanx 4 of wing finger (?).
