Etymology: The specific name is based on Kanza (or Kaw), the Native American tribe from which the state name Kansas was derived.

Locality: Utica, Sec. 2, T16S, R26W, Ness County, Kansas.

Horizon: Lower part of the Smoky Hill Chalk Member, Niobrara Formation.

Age: Late Coniacian Stage, Lower Senonian Subepoch, Lower Gulf Epoch-Early Santonian Stage, Senonian Subepoch, Gulf Epoch, Late Cretaceous.

Material: Fragmentary skull, left coracoid, humerii, radii, ulnae, left metacarpal 4, femora and tibiae.
