Genus: Douzhanopterus WANG, JIANG, ZHANG, CHENG, YU, LI, WEI & WANG, 2017
Etymology: Chinese, Douzhan, the name of a buddha granted by Wukong, the Monkey King in teh Chinese legend, indicating the relatinoship between ths new pterosaur adn other non-pterodactyloid monofenstrantans, such as Wukongopterus and Greek, pterus, "wing".

Species: zhengi WANG, JIANG, ZHANG, CHENG, YU, LI, WEI & WANG, 2017
Etymology: In honor of Prefessor Xiaoting Zheng, who suported our research on this specimen.

Holotype: STM 19-35a & B

Locality: Linglongta, Jianchang County, Liaoning Province, China.

Horizon: Daohugou Bed or Tiaojishan Formation.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Late Jurassic.

Material: Nearly complete postcranial sksleton missing skull.
