Genus: Wellnhopterus ANDRES & LANGSTON, 2021 (published 2020)
Etymology: One of us (Wann Langston Jr) wished to erect a new genus for the specimen and named it in honor of Peter Wellnhofer, the great pterosaur expert at the BSPG. However the name he chose, Wellnhoferia, is preoccupied and previously used to denote a genus of archaeopterygid bird (Elzanowski, 2001). To honor these wishes, Wellnhofer's name is combined with the Greek pteron, meaning wing and also a traditional ending for pterosaur names, to create the masculine nominative singular generic epithet Wellnhopterus.
= Javelinadactylus CAMPOS, 2021 (nomen rejectum)
