Genus: Lingyuanopterus XU, JIANG & WANG, 2022
Etymology:
In reference to the Lingyuan locality where the specimen was discovered, and Greek, pterus, "wing."
Species: camposi XU, JIANG & WANG, 2022
Etymology: In honor of Brazilian vertebrate Palaeontologist Diogenes de Almeida Campos for his contribution to China-Brazil pterosaur collobrative research.
Holotype: IVPP V 17940
Locality: Sihedang, Linguan, Liaoning Province, China.
Horizon: Jiufotang Formation.
Biostratigraphy:
Age: Aptian Stage, Early Gallic Subepoch, Late Early Cretaceous, Early Cretaceous.
Material: Skull, mandible and atlas-axis complex.
Note: A peipiaostid fish is found on the same block and 4 pellets (bromalite) with fish fragments.
