Etymology:Greek, oligo, "few" and Greek, dont, "teeth": in reference to the low tooth count that is unique to the species.
Holotype: LF 1370
Locality: Private section of the Schaudiberg Quarry, near the town Mühlheim, 48°51'14"N, 10°59'20"E, western end of the district of Eichstatt, Bayern (Bavaria) State, Germany.
Horizon: Mörnsheim Formation, Malm Zeta 2b-3 zone.
Biostratigraphy:
Age: Lower Tithonian Stage, Upper Malm Epoch, Late Jurassic.
Material: Skull and skeleton.
