Etymology: Longcheng, the ancient name of Chaoyang City, Western Liaoning Province, China and Greek, -pterus,
"wing," the suffix of pterosaurs: the generic name implies that the new pterosaur is
found from Chaoyang City, Liaoning Province.

Etymology: In honor of the late Brazilian palaeontologist Ignacio M. Brito,
who has fostered palaeontological studies in Brazil.

Etymology: The specific name luei (/lyi/) honors the late Prof. Junchang Lü, who has made great contributions to the study of Chinese pterosaurs.

Locality: Huanghuatan village, Dapingfang town, Chaoyang City, Liaonign Province, China.
Horizon: Lower part of the Jiufotang Formation.
Age: Aptian Stage, Lower Gallic Subepoch, Middle Early Cretaceous Epoch, Early Cretaceous.
Material: Skull, mandible and 7 cervical vertebrae.
