Genus: Qinglongopterus LÜ, UNWIN, ZHAO, GAO & SHEN, 2012
Etymology: The generic name is derived from 'Qinglong", the name of the Chinese administrative unit in which the holotype locality is to e found, and Greek, pterus, "wing."

Etymology: In honor of Chen Guo, who offered the specimen for scientific research.

Holotype: D3080, D3081

Locality: Mutoudeng, Qinglong County, Hebei Province, China.

Horizon: Tiaojishan Formation.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Callovian Stage, Upper Dogger Epoch, Middle Late Middle to earliest Upper Jurassic.

Material: Almost complete skull and skeleton, in part and counterpart.
