Genus: Siroccopteryx MADER & KELLNER, 1999
Etymology: Sirocco, a hot, dry, dust-laden wind originating in North Africa and blowing across the Mediterranean Sea, and Greek, pteryx, “wing.”

Species: moroccensis MADER & KELLNER, 1999
Etymology: In reference to Morocco, the country from which the holotype originates, and Latin, ‘ensis, adjectival suffix forming an adjective denoting place of origin.

Locality: ‘near Beg’aa, a locality along the northern edge of the Kem Kem Region, south of the Anti-Atlas Mountains, west of Hamada du Guir, Ksar es Souik Province, Morocco.

Age: Albian Stage, Middle Gallic Subepoch, Uppermost Early Cretaceous Epoch or Cenomanian Stage, Uppermiddle Gallic Subepoch, Lowermost Gulf Epoch, Late Early or Middle Cretaceous.

Material: Anterior part of an upper jaw with teeth.

The surface of the snout has a very complex morphology with rugosities, meandering striations, and shallow pits. Mader & Kellner believe this may be pathologic representing one or more disease in processes.
