Etymology: In reference to the Free State of Bavaria in Germany, where the specimen was found.
Holotype: LF 4157
Locality: Visitor's section of the Schaudiberg Quarry, near Mühlheim, Bayern (Bavaria) State, Germany.
Horizon: Just below the Hagende Wechselflinz layer, Mornsheim Formation.
Biostratigraphy:
Age: Lower Tithonian Stage, Upper Malm Epoch, Late Jurassic.
Material: Skull and skeleton.
