Genus: Torukjara PEGAS, 2024
Etymology: The generic epithet Torukjara combines the workds toruk, the Na-vi name of a fictional creature from the Avatar cinematographic saga (also known as great leonopteryx), and Tupi, jara, "lord", a common suffix for tapejarid genera. The name referes to the superficial resemblance betweeen the toruk and tapejarids, both of which are winged creatures that bear large sagittal crests on the rostrum and mandible.

Species: bandeirae PEGAS, 2024
Etymology: In honor of the Brazilian palaeontologist Kamila Bandeira, in recognition of her many contributions to Brazilian palaeontology. In addition, Bandeira is responsible for first noticing the potential taxonomic diversity of Caiua tapejarids, and for subsequently stimulating the present author to further explore this topic.

Locality: 'Cemiterio dos pterossauros' site (Pterosaur Graveyard site), 53°03'53.4"W, 23°45'34.5" S, Cruzeiro do Oeste Municipality, Parana State, Brazil.

Horizon: Goio-Ere Formation, Caiua group.

Age: Turonian Stage, Uppermost Gallic Subepoch-Campanian Stage, Senonian Subepoch, Gulf Epoch, Late Cretaceous.

Material: Partial skull and lower jaws.
