Etymology:
Yixian refers to the Yixian Formation, in which many beautiful fossils were
discovered, Greek, pterus, "wing", the common suffix of pterosaur taxa.
Species: jingangshanensis LU, JI, YUAN, GAO, SUN & JI, 2006
Etymology:
Jingangshan referes to the fossil locality, where the Jingangshan bed of the
Yixian Formation is well exposed.
Holotype: JZMP-V-12
Locality: Jingangshan, Yixian County, Liaoning Province, China.
Horizon: Upper part of the Yixian Formation.
Biostratigraphy:
Age: Early Cretaceous.
Material: Fragmentary skull and fragmentary skeleton.
