Etymology: Genus name is based on a saurian of doubtful affinities, and Greek, sauros, "lizard."

Species: amblyodus BARKAS, 1870
Etymology: IN reference to the teeth not onl obtusely pointed, but that they are also bent near the summites at an obtuse angle.

Holotype:

Locality: Low Main Seam at Newsham, Northumberland County, England, southern United Kingdom.

Horizon: Coal Measures.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Westphalian B, Middle Silesian series, Moscovian Epoch, Late Carboniferous (Late Pennsylvanian).

Material: Mandibles, a fragment of a scapula?
