Genus: Bystrowiella WITZMANN, SCHOCH & MAISCH, 2008
Etymology: In honor of the eminent Russian paleontologist A. P. Bystrow for his contributions to vertebrate palaeontology.

Species: schumannorum emend WITZMANN, SCHOCH & MAISCH, 2008
= Bystrowiella schumanni WITZMANN, SCHOCH & MAISCH, 2008
Etymology: In honor of the Schumann family for their engagement in securing fossils from Lower Keuper.
Note: The authors incorrectly coined the species name as -i, when honoring more than one family or person, the correct ending is -orum)

Locality: Vellberg limestone quarry(Schumann Quarry), near Schwäbisch Hall, northern Baden-Württemberg State, Southern Germany.

Horizon: Top of Untere Graue Mergel (bed 6 of Schoch, 2002), Lower Keuper, Erfurt Formation.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Longobardian, Upper Landian Stage, Upper Mid Triassic Epoch, Upper Middle Triassic.

Material: Osteoderm, dorsal vertebra and intercentrum.
